Offshore Drilling: Do you agree with the President's plan to expand offshore drilling for oil?

52.54% Yes
47.45% No

Comment: I am still waiting for the liar to bring the troops home like his platform while running for president stated. PINOCHIOBAMA what a grand nose! from Pensacola,FL by Flower

Comment: Russia is planning on drilling in the Gulf of Mexico near Cuba. It only makes sense for us to drill while it is available. We should have been drilling years ago so gas wouldn't be so expensive. Many other reasons could be given. We need to quiet the environmentalists. The earth was given to man to conquer. We need to get on with it! from Cantonment, Fl by Tom

Comment: We must drill offshore to create jobs and reduce our dependency on forign oil. from Pace by Ferren

Comment: i believe if we use this it might help gas prices go down and help our troops come home from navarre by rex

Comment: I am in tears, we do not need drilling off of our glorious gulf, We need to use wind power and solar power. We can forget tourist in a few years. Time has proven that this will mess up our coast, which in turn will effect us in the long run. I feel drilling is the easy way out, and it is the wrong way. We all need to look at Easter Island as an example of not respectiong our environment. Please no off shore drilling from pensacola by stacy

Comment: YES.. but... He and his Energy Czar have no clue where the biggest and best oil and gas resources are...Midwest and Alaska are where we should be placing new drilling actions...what he has done now is jsut a political ploy to get congress to pass energy and climate bills that will NOT help us rebuild our industries or economy. from Milton by Robert

Comment: No I strongly do not agree to this decision. The only thing this will do is ruin the Gulf and the surrounding land, not to mention the wildlife and an already desperate fishing industry. If President Obama wants to lessen our dependency on foreign oil then then he should give greater emphasis on developing alternative fuel sources in our own country and to make auto manufactures to create either cars that get better mileage or use alternative fuel. Grants should be giving to those are developing alternatives to oil and incorporated by the government who is the biggest user of oil and gas. from Niceville by NiteHawk

Comment: We need to do what is necessary to be better self supporting energy wise. from Pensacola, FL by Steve

Comment: First time I have agreed with him! from Pensacola by Lee

Comment: Glad to see it... Just hope that it is US jobs.

Comment: It's about time that we do this and its for the greater good. from pensacola by Luke

Comment: I vote YES the more oil the better...I only hope they built a refinery here in the Niceville area. from niceville fl by robert

Comment: I say no to obama's offshore drilling because our beaches will be all dirty and the beautiful shells will be gone. from Pensacola florida by Danielle

Comment: I lived in Corpus Christi TX for several years and they have so many closed oil rigs in the middle of the Gulf. They are an eye sore. The sand on the coastline is very dirty and the water is a mud color. I, as a tax payer and leasefee payer do not wish to see our beach end up like Corpus Christi,Rockport,Galveston Beaches.Keep the oil drilling in TX.Or better yet, Alaska has a lot of oil off their Coast!! from PENSACOLA BEACH,FL. by DENISE

Comment: If we don't...They will!!! We have been drilling in the Gulf for years... I hope that they open up the West Coast for drilling also.

Comment: Lifting the ban on off-shore drilling is the only logical decision this idiot has made.

Comment: I LIKE OUR WHITE BEACHES! IT WILL KILL FLORIDA'S ECONOMY IF WE DO NOT HAVE THE WHITE BEACHES TO BRAG ABOUT! from PENSACOLA FL by TAMATHA

Comment: YES. It's a deadpan cinch that something has to be done. Before the end of the decade, we will probably be in another world war; when that occurs, we can forget our dependence on foreign oil as a energy resource. Again, when and if that happens, we have a choice, watch the mongols wade up on our beautiful pristine beaches, or get our own source up and running right now. Incidently, we've also got to learn to curb our collective appetite for 'wasting energy resources' (i.e., taking the car two blocks to buy a loaf of bread, when walking would be quicker and cheaper and healthier). from Mary Esther, FL. by Tom

Comment: Absolutely not. Another promise broken. This guy is nothing but lies. His hearts not broken it's gloating. from Pensacola, FL by D

Comment: OBAMA IS DOING HIS BEST TO RUIN OUR COUNTRY WHILE HE IS IN OFFICE from PENSA by ALEC

Comment: I understand the fears of a spill - but we have not had spills from hurricanes. It may take 10 years to see profit or benefit, but we have to start to protect ourselves. History will prove/disprove our decisions. from Gulf Breeze, FL by Don

Comment: I SUPPORT DRILLING IN THE GULF WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE MILITARY TEST RANGE. AT THE SAME TIME EXPEDITE OUR OTHER RENEWABLE SOURCES WITH A MANHATTEN TYPE PRIORITY from NICEVILLE, FLA by RALPH

Comment: Drill now or learn to carry 20 bags of groceries home from the store. Your choice. from Cantonment, Fl. by Jeff

Comment: yes we need it bad end for jobs

Comment: Quit talking and start drilling! The benefits are limitless. from pace/fl by bobby

Comment: I would like to know first what the President is up to. The for leases in Florida and Alaska he wants to explore has already been checked and no oil is expected to be in the areas he talks about. The Hot Spots in Florida and Alaska are still off limits for drilling. The whole thing is a farce. Maybe he wants the people to forget about the Rotten healthcare bill they will force us to buy. Something is up with this. Keep eyes open. from Pensacola by Danny

Comment: I hope that us Floridians are able to get our heads out of the sand in time. I work as a Captain for one of the largest companies in the oil field. Safety of Employees and the environment is a top priority for this company. Our beaches will be protected. Tourism will increase due to the increase in fishing and diving. Additionally, the amount of business this could bring to the local economy is unimaginable!! This is a win/win opportunity for our area. We need to get out and support this. Our Leaders in Pensacola should be talking to the oil field now about what Pensacola has to offer (specifically maximizing the seaport that is seldom used). from Pensacola,Fl by David

Comment: if it is part of the plan to wean us off of oil and into more other sources of energy... from p'cola fl by h

Comment: THE PRESIDENT KEEPS BACKING DOWN ON HIS "I WILL NOT DO THIS PROMISES"OUR CITIES/COUNTIES WATER WAYS ARE POLLUTED ENOUGH. LEAVE WELL ALONE.AS IT WOULD BE DRILLING OUT THERE MISTAKES EVENTUALLY FLOW BACK TO OUR BEACHES.THE POWERS TO BE COMPANIES WIND UP ADDING ADDITIONAL CHARGES FOR NATURAL GAS/OIL/FUEL WHEN OIL COMPANIES START UP A NEW DRILL SITE. WE WILL WIND UP PAYING FOR IT ONE WAY OR ANOTHER from PENSACOLA/FL by LD

Comment: As much as I detest oil rigs in the Gulf & the pollution they will bring to the beaches I resent the Russians/Japs drilling here even more.Rest assured if we dont drill....they will. from pace by jim

Comment: It is about time!!! I think we are better able to control drilling (and avoid accidents) than say Cuba which will be drilling reguardless of what the USA wants. from Navarre, FL by Nancy

Comment: no i do not support this option from obama at all.It would not be good for our wildlife living in the water. from gulf breeze,FL by sven

Comment: In La. the best fishing is by the oil rigs. They're great artificial reefs. People worry about oil spills, which are almost nonexistent with today's controls. Replacing sand on beaches is what should be banned. That ruins more fish habitat. Condos that get destroyed in hurricanes dirty our beaches more than any oil which bacteria will eat & clean up. from Milton, FL by Tom

Comment: We need to do our part or quit driving. from Navarre,FL 32566 by John

Comment: If you want your automobiles and want to depend less on foreign oils, then you must drill at home. from Milton, Florida by John

Comment: We need all the oil we can find. How about the hugh reserve up in N Dak and that area? Lets dig our way out of oil dependence. from Pensacola,Fl by Franklin

Comment: There is only so much oil left, and we have known this for a realy long time. Its time to stop taking a chance with our water's and beaches and focuse on other energy. The oil companys are the only ones who will benfit from this. The taxes payers will have to pay to clean up the mess. We have the means and the know how, to creat other energy products, but big business do not want to go there. from Gulf Breeze, Fl by Deborah

Comment: no not if its only going to change the price of gas by 3 to 5 cents . not worth it at all from pcola by jimmie
