ESCAMBIA COUNTY - The United Way of Escambia County is collecting supplies to help victims of Hurricanes Ike and Gustav.
Millions of residents in Louisiana and Texas are still struggling to meet basic needs.
The United Way is asking you to consider making a disaster clean up kit or personal care kit.... from toothpaste and toothbrushes to bleach and mops.
The goal is to send three thousand kits to Louisiana.... Five thousand will be sent to Texas.
Items can be delivered to United Way of Escambia County, at 1301 West Government Street Monday through Friday, 8AM - 5PM.
The deadline to donate is Monday, October 6.

Mop
Bleach
Rubber gloves
Hand towels
Sponges
Trash bags
Various cleaning solutions
Personal Care Kit (3,000 requested in Louisiana, 5,000 requested in Texas):
Toothbrushes
Toothpaste
Dental floss
Shampoo
Conditioner
Soap
Baby wash and lotion
Diapers
Diaper rash cream
Baby wipes
Shaving cream
Razors
Aftershave
Skin care products
Hairbrushes
Combs
Note: Only items on the list will be accepted. Items must be purchased new; We will not accept
used items.
FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTIONS: One-hundred percent of financial contributions for Hurricane Ike and Gustav
recovery are used to help disaster victims.
For recovery efforts in Texas: Make checks payable to the United Ways of Texas, 1122 Colorado, Suite
102, Austin, Texas, 78701, Attn: Hurricane Ike Recovery Fund.
In Louisiana, make checks payable to the Louisiana Association of United Ways, 2515 Canal Street, New
Orleans, LA 70119, Attn: Charmaine Caccioppi, president of the Louisiana Association of United Ways.
GIVE ONLINE: Donations can also be made online at www.unitedwayescambia.org. You may direct your
gift to hurricane recovery efforts and 100 percent of the contribution will be sent in equal portions to the
United Way organizations listed above, or you may designate the organization of your choice.
