ESCAMBIA COUNTY - Everything from the sun to garbage were talked about as potential sources of electricity today...

Local leaders in green energy met at Gulf Power today to shed light on clean power in pensacola.

Channel three's dan thomas was at the energy summit and has the details.

It's nearly every clean/green idea under the sun and available now.

Dave Robau/Gulf Coast Energy Network: "Just getting the word out that some of these technologies that some people think are decades away, are really not."

In fact some of the products you may have thought were only made for delorians driven by mad movie scientists.

Ron Omley/Chief Environmental Air Force Spec. Ops: "It's called plasma waste energy."

Ron Omley/Chief Environmental Air Force Spec. Ops: "This will change the way everything is done with garbage in the US."

The Air Force has bought a 6 million dollar electricity generator that runs on trash... Turning the by-product into rocks.

Ron Omley/Chief Environmental Air Force Spec. Ops: "This can be used as aggregate for concrete in the construction industry."

It's on a trial run right now but at the end of the road, it could save you and i some cash.

Ron Omley/Chief Environmental Air Force Spec. Ops: "A system that was designed to handle 35 thousand homes, about 10 percent of those homes or 35 hundred would get free electricity."

Ron Omley/Chief Environmental Air Force Spec. Ops: "Our intent is for this proof of concept is to springboard into the local area."
