FAIRHOPE, AL - The Alabama Fire Marshall's Office is investigating a blaze that shut down a local gift shop.

Fire nearly destroyed "The Picture Show" Gift Shop in downtown Fairhope Tuesday morning.

"While many business owners are preparing for a busy Christmas season, one Fairhope shop owner is picking up the pieces"

Historic downtown Fairhope is full of hustling and bustling holiday shoppers.

"It's like driving down a movie set, everytime you come by it's like you're in a Hollywood movie.'

But the scene at "The Picture" Show Gift Shop is one out of a horror movie.

The building's owner Labon Richmond is hard at work.

"Just trying to secure the place."

He says the structure isn't ruined, but many of the items inside are.

Richmond says the shops owner was prepping for a busy shopping season.

"She had really nice stuff in their. Candles, frames just all kinds of nick naks, it was a fun store to walk through."

The store's closure disappoints customers.

Jackie Allen was hoping to pick up some Christmas gifts.

"They have great candles. I've been here before and everytime I come over I buy a candle for my friends and myself."

She hopes the store re-opens.

Richmond says the owner plans to. He says business was booming.

"I don't think this will hold her back. She's done a wonderful job up until now."

" Fortunately the fire didn't harm any other downtown businesses.

The building's owner believes it was an electrical fire.
