ESCAMBIA COUNTY-
Traffic at local stores has slowed down since Friday.. the start of the holiday shopping season.
But in just a matter of hours, another shopping bonanza will get underway.
Channel Three's Bill Pearson joins us live with more on where you can find the next round of deals... So Bill, where's the next big sale at?
Grace, its on-line.
We've all heard of Black Friday.. where stores offer up big sales before the sun even rises the Friday after Thanksgiving.
Well now, there's Cyber Monday.
And this year, nearly 85 percent of internet shopping sites will be offering up special deals you can find from the comfort of home... Or work.
A Walmart employee in Long Island New York trampled to death by over eager shoppers....
Locally, thousands packed stores trying to buy gifts on a tight budget.
It's just the kind of situation that Pamela Clark tries to avoid every year, on black Friday.
Pamela Clark said, "I'm not going to fight the people. I'm just not. It's not worth it. It's really not good bargains. It's too aggravating. If really is, so I think on-line shopping would be better."
And that's why a growing number of retailers are taking part in "Cyber Monday"
According to the National Retail Federation, 83 point 7 percent of on-line stores will be offering one-day specials Monday.
Thats up nine percent from last year.
Clark said, Most people want to sit in the convenience of their home and be able to shop. Not fight the crowds, with people and the lines. I think this is easier. Especially if they offer free shipping or reduced shipping.
But not everyone will have the time at home to check out Cyber Monday deals.
According to big research nearly 73 million people will do their cyber shopping from work.
Candace Mercer said, Ill probably be at work. Because I have to be back in Tallahassee, thats where I work. Ill try and get all the deals, at least see what I can get.
And with an economy filled with layoffs and uncertainty... Shoppers say its more important now to find the best deals... So you can stay within your budget.
Clark said, Its really hard now, everybody is really crunching to get that one gift they want. Reporter: So, you're hoping to save big? Clark: Oh yeah. Yeah!
One shopper told me the only concern with Cyber Monday was her boss... She didn't want to get caught spending too much time looking for the best deals.
