US - The head of the United Auto Workers says the U.S. Can not afford to let one of the big three collapse.

Ron Gettelfinger went on the air Sunday to tell congress and the country why it's so important for the government to rescue the auto industry.

What we need to do is remember that the entire industry around the world has been impacted by this economic downturn. It's not just here in the United States. And this is not a bailout, this is a loan -- bridge loan that will get us through until we can take a longer term look at exactly what needs to be done in the industry.

Carmakers want 25 billion dollars from uncle sam.

Chrysler, Ford and G-M will submit plans to congress Tuesday on how they would use the money. Auto Balout
