Impressive MLB starts for Nelson, Lively
PENSACOLA, Fla. (WEAR) —
Two Northwest Florida products are starting pitchers in the Major Leagues, and both turned in impressive starts on Sunday.
Gulf Breeze graduate Ben Lively continued a strong first month in the MLB, going six solid innings, following a theme of his young big league career.
Lively gave up three runs in the first inning, but pitched five scoreless innings to end his outing, striking out six. He left with the Phillies in the lead, but a late comeback by the Diamondbacks left Lively with a no decision.
Niceville grad Jimmy Nelson turned in one of best starts of his four years in the Majors. Nelson pitched a complete game for the first time, giving up just one run and striking out 10.
Nelson led the Brewers to a 2-1 win over the Padres for the fourth win in his last five decisions.
