South Alabama aims for next level

South Alabama has beaten SEC teams and ranked teams. They've been to a couple of bowls.

It's easy to forget they've only played four seasons as a full Division-One program, and just eight seasons overall. The Jaguars feel it's time for the next step in Mobile.

Coming off a season of marquee nonconference wins, including at Mississippi State, but they couldn't keep the momentum going in Sun Belt play. The Jaguars feel the difference maker has been depth, and it's finally reaching a new level.

Four Northwest Florida products are key players in the mix, including maybe the two most pivotal guys on defense.

Free safety Jeremy Reaves (#1), a Catholic High grad, is all-conference and a four-year starter. Strong safety (rover) Neiko Robinson (#14), a Northview High grad, started his college career at Penn State and big impact as a transfer last season.

Both guys added over 20 pounds of muscle in the off season, and it's hard to overstate how important they are to the plan.
