UWF football coach Pete Shinnick talks about the Argos' National Signing Day
Coming off their appearance in the NCAA Division two National Championship Game, UWF signed 15 incoming freshmen in their 2018 recruiting class. Add to that, 11 mid-year transfer students, and it was an impressive recruiting year for UWF.
UWF head coach Pete Shinnick said some of the freshmen have a chance to make an early impact. Shinnick cited linebacker Gael Laurent, from Jackson HS in Miami, and kicker/punter Dawson Hamlin, as two recruits who could compete for roles next fall.
Among the 11 mid-year transfers, Damarius Brinson, Jalen Mayo, and Hiram Velez arrived on campus in the fall and redshirted in 2017.
Shinnick also recruited linebacker Ricky Richardson, a West Florida Tech grad who comes from Coffeyville Community College in Kansas.
Shinnick talks about a transfer from GSC rival West Alabama, DB Anthony McArthur, and Amari DuBose, a running back at the Naval Academy who will contribute as a wide receiver for the Argos. DuBose is a junior, and a native of Jacksonville.
