UWF quarterback proving a point
PENSACOLA, Fla. (WEAR) —
Mike Beaudry grew up in Canada, naturally hockey was his favorite sport, but after his family moved to the Orlando area when he was 11, football took over.
At Oviedo High School, Beaudry was an all-county quarterback, but didn't get the recruiting attention he expected, so he ended up taking a leap of faith. In 2015 Beaudry was the first official signee in UWF program history.
An injury forced him to miss all of UWF's debut season, but Beaudry won the open quarterback job this fall and the results have been pretty remarkable. He's got impressive physical tools, at six foot five, 240 pounds, but an out sized work ethic really sets him apart.
Beaudry has thrown for over 2,800 yards and 26 touchdowns, earning conference freshman offensive player of the year. He's shown mental toughness in overcoming mistakes, and just keeps upping his game.
