Another strong summer for Pensacola FC Women's Soccer
Another summer, another strong showing for Pensacola's women's soccer team. Rebranded this season as Pensacola FC, but they are using a similar blend of new and familiar faces.
David Kemp has built a consistent winner in the Women's Premier Soccer League, and the success keeps enticing more impressive players to land in Pensacola. This summer the biggest stand out is Uchenna Kanu. A rising junior at Southeastern University in Lakeland, she's played for Nigeria's under 20 national team. Kanu is delivering with six goals in five games. Her college teammate Hiedi Ruth is also making a big impact in Pensacola. The Port Charlotte, Florida native is locking it down on defense. As always, the team is chock full of players that have come through or are still in the clubs youth program. Gulf breeze grad Kiersten Edlund, now a rising junior at Troy, has seen her summer role continue to expand.
Pensacola FC is undefeated through five games, with a first place battle coming Saturday in Baton Rouge. The final regular season home game is July 7th. A program with a national title, and three trips to the final four in the last five years, looks primed to make another run.
