South Alabama debut surreal for Campbell
Pensacola's Steve Campbell is trying to elevate South Alabama's football program, and the first taste coming in Saturday's spring game.
The Jaguars' new head coach bringing an up tempo and physical style to Mobile.
Campbell took over for Joey Jones, who stepped down after last season. He's had lots of success as a head coach in junior college, NCAA Division 2, and 1-AA.
Now, Campbell is trying to show he can do it at the top level of college football.
For the Tate High grad, coaching his first game at Ladd-Peebles Stadium brought back some fond memories.
"Listening to the National Anthem, I had a surreal deal. I remember sitting up with my dad in that corner in 1973 or 74 watching the Senior Bowl. It is great to be back down this way", said Campbell.
