2017 Coach of the Year: Tim Hatten

As always, we have some outstanding coaches in the area, but our choice for this season's best is clear - Crestview's Tim Hatten.

He led the Bulldogs to their first undefeated regular season in 15 years.

A program that had been mired in mediocrity has won 19 of their last 21 games and two straight district titles.

After arriving five years ago, Hatten emphasized developing younger players in the program.

Crestview's ninth grade team has won five straight county championships - the last four undefeated. Now, we're seeing the fruits on the varsity level.

Hatten's offense relies on making checks at the line of scrimmage, one opposing coach said it's probably the best run-pass options offense he's played against.

He brought in Tommy Johnson as defensive coordinator last season with great results.

During a dominant regular season, no one came closer than 17 points, and they've beaten some of the area's best teams like West Florida Tech, Niceville, and Gulf Breeze.
