BAKER, Fla. (WEAR) —
Baker has won 21 of their last 22 games.
The lone loss was in last year's state championship game.
The Gators look very much like a team that will be there in the end again this year.
Baker's resurgence under Matt Brunson is not slowing down.
The Gators are coming off a run to the state championship game but seems to have retained a chip on their shoulder, with the loss to Pahokee in the title matchup keeping motivation high.
The Gators came back targeting a more vertical passing game, and Kalee Cuirleo is delivering.
A prime example in week eight was against then-undefeated Chipley. With the Tigers loading the box to stop the run, Cuirleo lit them up for over 300 yards.
It all stems back to summer preparation.
Of course, Baker is no less of a threat running the ball.
A three-headed monster has combined for over 1,500 yards.
Junior McLaughlin, Jalen Ciurleo, and Jayson Moore are all producing in a big way. All three guys are also key on defense, but the leader on that side is definitely Zach Brown.
The senior linebacker tops the team in tackles, plus a whole lot more.
Only three home games all season is a bit of a quirk. Not your ideal situation, but the team is making the most of it.
The Gators haven't met much resistance all season. A 14-point spread on Chipley has been the closest call. Not being tested could be an issue when that gut-check game does come.
