UWF loses heartbreaker to Delta State
In just their second ever season, it's pretty remarkable UWF is even in a position to beat a team like Delta State, but that doesn't make a heartbreaking loss easier to swallow.
UWF coming so close to knocking off the 21st ranked team in the country on Saturday.
Quarterback Mike Beaudry threw for 354 yards, the defense forced three turnovers in holding a good offense in relative check, and Austin Williams nailed four field goals.
The Argos led 25-14 in the 4th quarter, but with the lead down to four, another field try was blocked and returned all the way back for the go ahead score. Making it more bitter, in the final seconds UWF was near range for a tying field goal try, but a mix up on the snap caused a fumble that sealed the deal for Delta. Similar late game frustration in a loss to the Statesmen last year, but the Argos say moral victories just won't cut it anymore.
