Woman loses leg after swimming in gulf

A woman loses her leg after getting cut while swimming in the gulf. Margaret Freiwald cut her leg while climbing back into a boat. She didn't think much of it but days later, she was in intensive care, fighting for her life. Doctors say the woman was exposed to a rare bacteria found in salt water called vibrio vulnificus. The infection so aggressive they were forced to amputate her leg.
Its attacked all her organs. She was suffering kidney failure. She had a heart attack.
The Centers for Disease control calls vibrio a rare but under reported cause of disease. According to the CDC every year in the gulf coast region there are around 50 lab confirmed cases. Of those,  45 people go to the hospital, 16 people die. The rare bacteria can be found in virtually any warm body of saltwater.
