Battle against Breast Cancer

The battle against Breast Cancer.
Some women think that having both breasts removed is the best insurance against a recurring case.
But is it necessary?
More and more, when faced with Breast Cancer in one breast women are deciding to have both removed. This kind of double mastectomy, where there's
nothing wrong in one breast, has doubled over the past 10 years.

It may keep fear at bay, but is it helping women live longer?
University of Minnesota researchers looked at data from 100,000 women over

30 years. They found that on average the procedure only boosted life
Expectancy by an average of six months.  That doesn't mean that women are going to die anyway - it means that doctors are better and better at
treating breast cancer - and sparing the healthy breast.

That gives women another piece of information that will help them decide on their own best course of treatment.
