Long-time use of hormone therapy for women discouraged, researchers say

The Women's Health Initiative has released the final word on hormone replacement therapy.

Researchers say healthy women who recently entered menopause can safely take hormones for a brief amount of time. Long-time use of the therapy is now discouraged. For years the medical world promoted replacement therapy saying it lowered the risk of heart problems.  However the therapy may have caused some women to suffer heart disease and strokes.
