Milton goes tobacco free October 1st

MILTON   --   The city of Milton, in Santa Rosa County, is going tobacco-free this fall.
Starting October 1st the city will only hire new workers who don't smoke or use tobacco products.
They'll have to be tested for nicotine use every year.
Current employees will be encouraged to quit.

And the use of tobacco products on city property, in city vehicles, or while employees are on the clock will be banned.
The city expects the policy to increase productivity and reduce the cost of medical benefits.
