MORE INFORMATION: Terror suspects had sights on New York City next

BOSTON   --   Investigators say the Boston Marathon bombing suspects also had their sights set on Times Square.

Surviving suspect  Dzhokhar Tsarnaev spoke with Boston investigators from his hospital bed.

According to him he and his brother Tamerlan Tsarnaev had a pressure cooker bomb and five pipe bombs left after the marathon attacks.

Dzhokhar says they had spontaneously decided to go to New York City to detonate them.
Authorities say their plan went off track when the owner of the vehicle they carjacked managed to escape.

We don't know if we would have been able to stop the terrorists, had they arrived here from Boston. We're just thankful we didn't have to find out that answer.

This morning, the FBI searched a landfill in New Bedford, Massachusetts.
They were looking for discarded packaging or homemade bombs that may have been used by the suspects in a test explosion.
