New York City death being investigated as hate crime

NEW YORK CITY -- New York City Police are investigating the killing of a man as a hate crime.

The shooting happened in the Greenwich Village neighborhood in Manhattan just after midnight last night.

The NYPD is calling it a hate crime because the gunman made several anti-gay comments before shooting 32-year-old Marc Carson in the face.

"He then says to both the bartender and the manager that if you do call the police, I'll shoot you and he opens up a gray hoodie and shows what appears to be shoulder holster carrying a revolver."

New York Police say this is the third violent attack in two weeks believed to be motivated by anti-gay bias.
