Santa Rosa County's Raider Games held today
SANTA ROSA COUNTY -- The rain today didn't stop 70- special needs students in Santa Rosa County from participating in the Raiders Games.
"Students from Kindergarten to 12th grade all had something to do today from volleyball to fishing."
Churee Kauble's 13-year old daughter Leah took part in the games.
She says watching her daughter smile is the best part.
Churee Kauble "This is an awesome day for everyone to participate and they just love it."
Many sports were offered frisbee, tee-ball, fishing, and the crowd favorite volleyball.
"I think volleyball is my favorite game. I love it."
The games are not competitive. Everyone receives a medal.
Jessica Howie "I think it just allows them to be themselves and eyes aren't on them in any other way and they know that they're going to be loved and accepted."
Organizers raised 3,000 dollars this year to put on the event.
More than 30- volunteers helped.
There is one message Jessica hopes people took with them.
"We are more alike than we are different ."
"Organizers are already preparing for next year's games."
