IRS Protests on targeting conservative groups
Douglas Shulman led the IRS at a time when it was "targeting" applications from conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status.
But during a hearing today he told the Senate Finance Committee that he knew little about what was going on.
Shulman says he didn't learn all of the facts until he read last week's report by a Treasury Inspector General.
He says it's an issue that should have been brought "up the chain" to him -- and that he doesn't know why it wasn't.
Shulman left the IRS last November when his 5-year term expired.
According to a new ABC News Washington Post poll, three-quarters of Americans see the IRS' behavior as inappropriate.
Today over two dozen people rallied outside the Pensacola IRS office near 9th Avenue and Creighton Road.
The demonstration was among dozens held across the nation to protest irs scrutiny of conservative groups.
