Cinco de Mayo celebration in Downtown Pensacola

PENSACOLA, Fla. -- It's Cinco de Mayo, a day of celebration for people across the United States and parts of Mexico.

Singing and dancing, margaritas and guacamole. Just some of the traditions used to mark the 5th of May.

In Downtown Pensacola, hundreds of people came out to celebrate as Palafox was transformed into old Mexico.

Contrary to  popular belief, May 5 is not Mexico's Independence Day.

Cinco de Mayo commemorates the Mexican victory over the French in the Battle of Puebla in 1862.
