Downtown Pensacola 'back-in' parking changed to 'front-in' parking
PENSACOLA -- Drivers in downtown Pensacola will no longer have to back in to their parking spaces.
Two years ago the city switched from parallel parking to "back-in" parking along a stretch of Palafox.
The idea was to add more parking spaces.
The Downtown Improvement Board says they received lots of complaints from businesses and drivers about the "back-in" parking.
Today, the board voted to switch to the more traditional "front-in" parking.
Members still have to talk to the city about cost and design changes but the switch should be completed with-in 60 days.
The Downtown Improvement Board says the number of parking spaces should stay the same.
