Disaster officials call Tropical Storm Andrea a wake-up call for Florida

FLORIDA   --  Disaster officials are calling the storm a wake up call.
Andrea kicks off what forecasters say will be another busy hurricane season.
Governor Rick Scott met with emergency responders this morning.
He put the Florida National Guard troops on standby.
The governor says Florida would be better prepared if not politicians in Washington.
"They are forcing our National Guard, 50% of our full-time National Guard, to be furloughed part of their time. On top of the fact it's going to impact their training, it's also going to have a dramatic impact on their readiness in case of a hurricane."
The governor says now that hurricane season is under way -- people need to make sure they are prepared.
He recommends having three days of non-perishable food, three days of water and battery powered radios so that you can follow what's happening.
