UWF to build hotel, conference center

The University of West Florida is moving forward with plans to build a hotel, conference center, and additional student housing.

On Tuesday, the town of Century signed off a 40-million dollar bond issue that will put that plan into action.

A private developer will build the project on 18 acres of land near the east entrance of the campus.

UWF will own the land and execute a 50-year lease with the developer.

The university will get a percentage of gross revenue generated from the development.

After the 50-year lease is up, the Univeristy of West Florida Business Enterprises, Incorporated will own the improvements.
