Lifeguards may patrol more Pensacola beaches

PENSACOLA BEACH   --  Pensacola Beach lifeguards may soon patrol beaches at the federal parks.

The Gulf Islands National Seashore has asked the Santa Rosa Island Authority for lifeguards for Opal Beach and Langdon Beach on Santa Rosa Island, and for Johnson Beach on Perdido Key.
If approved the lifeguards could start at the National Seashore next spring.

SRIA Public Safety Director Bob West says federal parks would save money by hiring their lifeguards, instead of finding their own.
