Libery Church stabbing

PENSACOLA   --  TDeputies are looking for three teenage boys who attacked a homeless man.
The man was stabbed outside Liberty Church on Nine Mile Road and Music Lane, before 5:30 this morning.

The victim was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital.
There is no word on his condition.
He told deputies the teens stabbed him then robbed him.

Neighbors say this is normally a pretty place.
There's a shopping center across the street here.
And houses and neighborhoods behind the church.

The church welcomes in the needy for water, coffee, refreshments, so its not rare for many of them to be seen in the area.

Lavoine Nettles lives near Liberty Church.
He spent the morning working on his car but he was sound asleep when a man was stabbed not too far from where he lives.  Now he's hearing the news.

Kinda makes me worried because I have family of my own and we walk here all the time.
Investigators took a bicycle from the crime scene outside Liberty Church.

They also bagged up some clothes laying on the ground but the attackers were long gone.

Melissa Miller goes to Liberty Church on Sundays and she's now telling her friends what happened...
She says its disturbing that teens were involved.

Melissa Miller
"What would you take from a homeless person? They have nothing, so what would be the point of that? Other than being malicious."

Deputies haven't said what was taken.
But Melissa hopes the attack doesn't discourage the church from working with and welcoming the needy.

That's one of Liberty's big things is community outreach. We do a good job of that in the winter but summer is an important time too, so we gotta keep doing it.

Neighbors hope investigators have enough clues to find the man's attackers.  Until they do, Lavoine Nettles will warn his family.

Just outta tell em to be careful when they're walking around outside.
