A Cantonment woman was able to receive what she calls, a blessing from God today.
When a group of volunteers working with the Council on Aging gave her a helping hand.

"It's a moment Maggie McNeal has long waited for, the day an army of volunteers converged to her home to do some yard work, but to Maggie it means so much more"

For Maggie McNeal, gardening has always been a part of her life.
Archie McNeal - Maggie's Son
"I know this is making my mom happy, for what they're doing because this is all she was talking about and focused on"

Now 80-years old, Maggie can no longer get into her yard like she once could.
Lucky for her, 12-volunteers with International Paper gave her a helping hand.

By raking, trimming and cleaning out her yard.

"I'm just happy they're doing this for her because she's a sweet lady and she does alot for everybody else, she's a giving person and she deserves something back"

Volunteer groups with the Council on Aging of West Florida have been reaching out to help senior citizens for over 40-years.

The organization says they can easily have up to 20 yard requests at any given time which is why they can always use more volunteers.

Janice Holmes - Volunteer  "We're all really happy to see that she's happy as well and one of our employees Tenecia Roberts gave her a Begonia and you can see it fits in well with her already large collection of plants.  You can really see she takes a lot of pride in her yard"

Maggie says she's grateful to be have such thoughtful people in her community.
"I just thank the Lord for all the help that's come out here and help me, I thank the Lord for them"

"Volunteers with International Paper hope other companies in the area join in the effort to help senior citizens with community service projects.
