Soldier laid to rest
Friends and family are gathering today to remember a Pensacola soldier who died in Afghanistan. Staff Sergeant Jesse Thomas served in the Army for seven years. He died June 10th in Helmand province. Thursday, his body was flown back home. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 pm at the East Hill Church of God in Christ followed by burial at Barrancas National cemetery.
Governor Rick Ccott has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff at the Escambia county courthouse, Pensacola city hall and the state capitol.
