Gov. Scott signs gun bill

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- Gov. Rick Scott signed a bill that will help keep guns out of the hands of the mentally ill.
The bill was among 47 Scott signed Friday, including measures that will outlaw the dyeing of bunnies and chicks, give citizens the right to speak at government meetings and repeal a law that restricted the size of mullet caught in Broward County.
The gun bill was supported by Democrats, Republicans and the National Rifle Association.
It will close a loophole that allowed people with mental illnesses to voluntarily admit themselves for treatment, then quickly check out and still be able to buy a gun.
Their names will now be put into databases to prevent them from buying guns.
