Landfill Camp deasigned to teach children to recycle

ESCAMBIA COUNTY   --  Some parents were able to dump their kids off at the Perdido Key Landfill today.
It's all part of a day camp geared at teaching kids the importance of recycling.

Escambia County Waste Services puts on the free camp every summer.
The campers learn how different materials break down and why it's important to re-use and recycle.

Staff members say the camp is a fun way to help children take responsibility for the trash they produce.

The camp is free but campers are asked to bring a pair of new or gently used shoes to be donated to Soles4Souls.

The next available date is Thursday, July 11th.
The camp takes place every Tuesday and Thursday through August 8th.
