Nicolas Cage films new movie in Mobile
MOBILE, Ala. -- Actor Nicolas Cage is shooting a movie called "Tokarev." This week the cast and crew have been shooting car chases on several downtown streets.
Yesterday, Christian Jennings caught up with the super star during a lunch break. Cage was in Bienville square signing autographs for some of his fans and Christian asked what he thought of the gulf coast.
Clip - "I like the people very much," said Cage.
Nicolas Cage has grown fond of Mobilians.
He wanted that to be known so badly that he told a police officer it wasn't necessary to push me away when I tried talking to him.
I wasn't the only one excited about my cage encounter ---
And yes --- there's the proof --- he did touch my hand
But apparently I wasn't the only one.
"He walked up where we were and just touched me and I was like oh my god I think I got a great picture but I’m not really sure because I almost dropped my phone I’m just like not even going to wash my hands right now."
These two are so excited about "Tokarev" being filmed in the port city, that they're making the trip here every day to watch the action unfold.
"I live in Chickasaw and I live in Saraland so we've made it a point to come down here and watch I mean how often does someone come down here to Mobile and we heard that they're actually going to make it mobile in the movie instead of making it somewhere else so it's nice to see us on the map."
She's right --- movie reps confirm that “Tokarev” will feature everything Mobile --- mobile police cars, uniforms and logos.
"It's cool to see the action and how they do their shots there's a lot of prep between the shots."
"I actually did some precision driving is what they're calling it which was kind of cool they were zooming in between our cars, motorcycle chase scene things like that so it's been pretty exciting and it's cool because Nick’s right there."
Yes --- he is ---
Right there ---
And coming to my defense --- to tell the people of Mobile how much he's enjoying his time in the South.
