Ronald McDonald house a "Godsend" for out-of-state family
PENSACOLA -- Hotels aren't the only temporary housing that sees an uptick during the summer. The Ronald McDonald House says most of the families they help this time of year are from out of state.
They offer rooms for families who have a child in Sacred Heart Hospital.
Nick Rupp and his two small children ended up there this week. They were in Orange Beach on vacation when his wife went into premature labor.
"The Ronald McDonald house has been a godsend for us. It meets our needs with everything from laundry to the home office upstairs to a massively prepared kitchen,” said Rupp.
The families don't pay for anything and the house is funded entirely by donations.
Baby Emily Rupp is doing well enough the family was able to take an "angel flight" home to Arkansas today.
