Possible policy changes to homeowners insurance

Improving homeowner insurance policies, that's what insurance regulators and industry leaders are hoping for.

After receiving numerous complaints, the Insurance Consumer Advocate's office is developing a "Policy And Claims Bill Of Rights."
Here are a few of their  recommendations:

A claims adjuster should inspect damage and provide an estimate within 36 hours of notification.
Permits should be required for all repairs beyond emergency repairs
A 72-hour "cooling off" period, meaning you would have 3 days to cancel your policy for a full refund, should be the norm.

The full list of recommendations are on our website. under "newslinks."
