Man convicted on animal cruelty charges

A Barrineau Park man, convicted on animal cruelty charges, is going to jail.

Roger Kervin was sentenced to 90 days in jail, and three years of probation.He will get credit for 36 days that he previously served.

Last year about 90 animals were seized from his property on Lawson Lane. Dogs, goats and hogs and other animals were all malnourished.

Animal Control says there were signs of neglect in the animal pens included stagnant, algae-filled water and food bowls buried in mud. Many of the animals were euthanized.
