Sheriff's Office debuts new crime app
If you're one of those people who always has your iPhone in reach, the Okaloosa Sheriff's Office has an app for you.
There was a time when if you wanted to know what was going on with your local sheriff's office, you had to head up to the station and ask some questions. Then came social media. The Okaloosa County Sheriff's office was quick to get on Facebook, Youtube, and Twitter. The new iPhone app is a way of bringing everything together.
Once you download the free app from your app store, you can access contact information, maps, warrants, and the main sheriff's website with links to all the social sites, crimestoppers, and traffic alerts. The app was developed in-house by IT specialist Adam Bader, saving the agency thousands of dollars.
"If he wanted to go out anywhere else, I think he'd be pulling in six figures easily. But this is his family and we're so lucky to have him," siad Michele Nicholson, OCSO.
If you don't have an iPhone, fear not. A droid application is in the final stages of development.
