Shalimar Courthouse lawsuit may be settled soon

SHALIMAR  --  A lawsuit over the Shalimar Courthouse Annex in Okaloosa County could be settled in a couple of weeks.

The legal battle was about using the building for non-judicial purposes, now that there's a new courthouse.

The deed said if the building wasn't used for court functions, it would revert back to its original owner, the Meigs family trust.
The county agreed to pay them 1.6 million dollars over the next four years.
In return, the trust will release its claim to the building.
The county plans to use the annex for office space, to save on rental costs.
