SRIA meets to discuss civilian air show in November

PENSACOLA BEACH   --   Tonight, the Santa Rosa Island Authority will discuss the possibility of having a civilian air show on Veterans Day weekend.

Usually, Naval Air Station Pensacola hosts the Blue Angels Homecoming Show.
But sequestration has the "Morale, Welfare and Recreation" Department looking for an alternative.
The "Wings Over Pensacola Air Festival" would include a Friday night show at NAS Pensacola. And then shows both Saturday and Sunday on the beach.
The Island Authority would pay around $150,000 for the beach shows.
The authority says they have the money.
But if they can't fill hotels with civilian acts it may not be worth it.

I think the Blue Angels came we fill hotels, like you said, middle of July height of tourism season, airshow, 125,000 dollars, Blue Angels came different story.

They SRIA will not make a final decision until September.
