Destin asks state for grant to help pay monitoring of project

DESTIN   --   The city of Destin is trying to stretch its budget by getting some state grant money.

The city is asking the Department of Environmental Protection to split the cost of monitoring a beach restoration project.
The East Destin Restoration was finished in 2006.
State law says it has to be monitored through the end of next year at a cost of 65,000 dollars.
The city is applying for a grant that would cover 50 % of that amount.
