Settlement from deadly gas explosion

The family of a man killed while working at an Escambia County construction site has been awarded over two million dollars in damages.

Nathaniel McCants was injured at a construction site just off Highway 29 in Escambia County in 2006.
McCants was at the bottom of a hole installing a sewage drain pipe when a ball of fire erupted.
McCants was severely burned.
He was taken to a burn center in Gainesville and died four days later.
Lawyers for the McCants family argued that his supervisor never told the workers about a gas leak in the area to keep the project moving along.
