Shipyard in Mobile connected to DC Navy Yard
In Mobile, several employees were glued to the TV at Austal Shipyard.
The company's president says Austal deals with the Washington navy yard on a daily basis, because it houses the program executive offices for both the Joint High Speed and LCS programs, both of which have contracts with Austal.
As soon as the news broke about the attack, Austal went into a high alert security mode.
"How it affects us I think time will tell based what transpires from events up there and what is deemed the root cause as to how it was allowed to happen so we'll be working with closely to navy to learn all of that and we'll take appropriate actions."
Austal and Huntington Ingalls both have offices right around the corner from the navy yard in D.C.. They say all their employees are safe.
