OJ stand rasies money for ill boy
ESCAMBIA COUNTY -- For some residents living at Sunrise Apartments, seeing crime scene tape and hearing gun shots through the night are becoming too common, and at least for one resident I spoke with, she says it's becoming too much to bear.
"It's like bad, we come out here and it's like people getting shot everyday out here" said Sheretta Williams.
has lived in Sunrise Apartments for eleven years. When she moved to
Sunrise, she says things weren't as bad as they are now.
"I would think that Truman Arms was the baddest or Pensacola Village or something like that but Sunrise is taking over, it really is taking over, it's not safe for us no more out here" said Williams.
Williams says even
bringing the kids out to play can be risky.
"People have started putting their kids on the floor, sleeping on the floor just in case somebody decides they just want to randomly shoot" said Williams.
Just this week, two people were shot. On Tuesday, a 24 year old man was shot while he was sitting on a couch; he was later taken to the hospital. Friday night, another person was hurt following several gun shots.
most of the trouble is coming from other parts of town.
"It's not the people that live here, it's the people that decided they want to beef with who it is in here; they come out here and they don't care who they shoot at, or who they shoot in the process of doing whatever it is they want to do" said Williams.
Williams hopes her community can come together to stop the violence before someone is killed.
The Escambia County Sheriff's Office is still investigating these shootings. If you have information you're asked to call crime stoppers at 433-stop, remember your tips can remain anonymous.
