iPads and eReaders may soon be approved for flight take-offs

You may soon be able to use your iPad or eReader during takeoff and landing.

According to the New York Times an FAA advisory panel is coming up with new recommendations on the use of electronic devices on planes.
They are reportedly considering  allowing reading eBooks or other digital publications, listening to podcasts, and watching videos during take-off and landing.
The ban on sending and receiving e-mails and text messages or using wi-fi during takeoff or landing is expected to remain in place as is the prohibition on making phone calls throughout the flight.
The panel will recommend its new policy to the FAA  by the end of the month.
