Checks are in the mail from toxic plume settlement in Pensacola
ESCAMBIA COUNTY -- A follow-up now on a multi-million dollar class-action lawsuit over a toxic plume in Pensacola.
Parts of the East Hill area were contaminated by Conoco Phillips and other companies prior to 1975.
People who own property in that area were notified that they may be able to share in a 9.5 million dollar settlement.
Last week, an Escambia County judge approved the settlement.
Now, around 3600 people who qualified to take part in the settlement will get anywhere from 3200 dollars to 175 dollars.
Those checks should be mailed with-in the next month or two.
