Marvel Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D debuts
One of the most highly anticipated TV shows in years debuted Tuesday night on ABC. "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." takes viewers into the secret intelligence organization tracking down those with super powers. Local fans have been waiting for weeks. Steve Wilcox and Jon Agricola are self-proclaimed comic book geeks.
They could go back and forth bantering all day about which character is better. Agricola said, "That is typical of most nerds and geeks everywhere. Who is better, who would win a fight. Would it be the Wolverine and Batman."
So it's only natural, they've been waiting for "Marvel Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D". Agricola, "I want to see if they incorporate all the things that have gone on in the past 10 years in Marvel movies."
What does S.H.I.E.L.D mean? Wilcox, who also works at T.B.S comics, can tell you that in his sleep.
S.H.I.E.L.D stands for Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division. They are mostly the World cops. They are the guys that deal with things no other law enforcement can deal with, mostly the superheroes.
The series brings agent Phil Coulson back to life as he leads his team of agents investigating strange events where people openly use their super powers.
So what will the new show mean for local business? T.B.S Comics says in no time, books will be flying off the shelves. Wilcox said, "We get people who never have been involved in comics. They see the show, see the movies, now they want to know what thats all about it."
Who knows? Maybe the show will bring new people to the crazy world of comic books, a place where anything can happen. Wilcox joined the club back when he was just a little kid, "I'm just a normal person, but when I read comics...I can be a superhero, I can put on a cape, I can fly, and I can go beat up bad guys." he said.
