New virtual avatar at Northwest Fla Regional Airport
OKALOOSA COUNTY -- A new employee at Northwest Florida Regional Airport is taking passengers by surprise.
Meet the Airport Virtual Avatar or "AVA.
She is designed specifically for airports and is dressed just like an airport employee.
When passengers walk up to "AVA", she delivers a pre-programmed message with information to help move them through security more quickly.
This "AVA" is just a temporary version.
A model made specific to Northwest Florida Regional Airport, will be installed in a few months.
"It will take you a little bit off beat, when you walk around the corner. I'm sure if we had some kids they'd be really intimidated by this, for virtual, I guess it's the future, its kids of intimidating when you walk up."
Northwest Florida Regional Airport is the first airport in Florida with an "AVA.
Other versions of "AVA" are being installed at John F. Kennedy International Airport and LaGuardia Airport.
