Over 12,000 Navarre homes and businesses lost power

NAVARRE -- Over 12,000 homes and businesses in the Navarre area were without power for a few hours last night.
Gulf Power says lightning was to blame for the outage.
It struck a transformer that caused an entire grid to go down around 6:00 pm.
Most people sat in the dark for a few hours.
Some restaurant owners say they turned to their generators to keep business up and running.
"We were packed and we did lose a big chunk of our crowd. By the time we got our generators up and running we ended up having a real good night."
Power crews worked for nearly three hours and had most of the customers electricity back up and running just before nine pm.
