Tree swing in Milton becomes liability, city votes for removal

MILTON -- A tree swing in Milton has become the subject of much debate. The tree is in a public park, near a river. For the past few summers youngsters have been tying a rope to the tree's limbs, to swing out over the river and jump in the water.  But that is a dangerous move, and the city has been trying to get them to stop. Each summer the city takes down the rope, but it always returns.

"Put it back up, we'll definitely put it back up in a week, less than a week."

But tonight the city council voted to actually remove the tree. The city manager says the tree is sick, and poses a liability. The tree will be cut down soon.
